What is STOPit?

 is an anonymous, two-way reporting system that allows students, guardians, and others to report threats, violence, self-harm/suicidal ideation, and others. It is used by more than 8,000 organizations nationwide to create safer, better-connected, and healthier learning environments.

Want to Bring STOPit to Your District?

The Coalition for Safe Schools and Communities and the County Office of Education are partnering with school districts to pilot STOPit at their middle and high schools. If you are interested in learning more, contact Greg Fry, School Climate Coordinator.

How Does it Work?

  1. Students and other school community members are invited to download the STOPit app on their phone.
  2. When an incident occurs, students can use the app to anonymously report the incident. The report is sent to an assigned school administrator, who then responds. If they need more information, the app allows for two-way communication so that the school administrator can get more information without identifying who submitted the report.
  3. The STOPit app also includes a Crisis Text Line to provide free mental health support and crisis intervention for those who need immediate support, 24/7/365.
